Read and then think about this when wasting your next meal.
This isn't some country in Africa my friends...
This is a very real issue we face today..

People living in cities feel they are safe
or isolated from these problems..
But remember that all things come full circle...
If these people aren't taken care of
they will come to your city and become criminals
Thieves, murderers, rapists, dacoits...

However, the first India State Hunger Index (Ishi) this year found that Madhya Pradesh had the most severe level of hunger in India, comparable to Chad and Ethiopia.Even federal health surveys show that 60% of children under the age of six in the state are malnourished - more than 12% of these severely so.The Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party, which rules the state, does not mention the issue in its manifesto. The opposition Congress party takes note of it and promises to make Madhya Pradesh a "malnourishment-free" state if voted into power.
BBC NEWS | South Asia | Ignoring India's 'republic of hunger'

The truth is, none of these governments care..
if the Congress cared, why hasn't India been hunger-free when they ruled...
It is time for concerned citizens to take this issue up...
To support organizations that work for these causes...

Please do not subject humans
to the harsh laws of Darwinism..
Compassion is a trait.. even animals possess...
Please show compassion.. find a way to help

Sponsor a poor child.. feed a hungry family..
Find organizations supporting these people..
And work with them..
It really isn't impossible to feed people..

Most people simply search for their documents on their PCs by navigating through a maze of folders. But there's a simpler way to do all of this. Simply download and install Google Desktop Search and you're good to go. GDS will index all your files and all you have to do is hit 'Ctrl' twice for a universal search bar. (you may have to enable this in preferences)

The good thing about this search bar is that it also indexes your applications. No more clicking on the 'Start' menu and then 'All Programs' and then hunting for the program you want. Simply press Ctrl twice and type in the name of the app and its listed right there.

For example, if you want to use Calculator, simply type calc and it'll be listed in the search results drop-down.

It's that easy. Go ahead, download GDS and give it a try. It makes using your PC much easier.

We had a long diwali weekend here at Google (yes, I work there) and in grand anticipation we planned a day trip to Nagarjuna Sagar again. This time we decided that it be on a much larger scale than our last trip.

So this time it was a whopping five families, which came to approximately 30 people of all shapes and sizes. Dare I mention that the word chaos was thrown around quite often. The naive little idealist in me thought that this trip would pan out well and everyone would have a great time. While thankfully the latter did happen, the former left much to be desired from.

People and all their nakhras are hard to handle. Period. From convincing my own family members to come along, to calling others a zillion times to know if they're coming:

Us: 'Are you coming'
Them: 'Sure!'
Us (thinking that was easy): 'Great! We're leaving on Sunday then.'

A little while later

Them (with guilt that kids are not studying): 'Our little chintoo isn't studying too hard, so we don't want him to miss his Sunday class, so we won't make it'
Us (still figuring what happened): 'Umm.. sure if he has to go, he has to go.'

Next scene: Chintoo is riding beside me on the bus to Sagar.

So anyways, with the pooling of resources and the vestiges of our sanity erased, we tarried forth. The trip was fun overall, we had a fun ride, breakfast on the way, a bit of throwing rocks in the water, a tasty meal of fried fish and khatti daal, (I ate like a pig), then headed to the falls where we played for about an hour and then headed for home.

A few observations:

- The intensity of the fall was much greater. Points that were accessible the last time we went were off limits. The sheer pressure of the water kept pushing us away.
- I keep injuring myself in the same foot that leaves me limping for a few weeks
- Never insist on family (read the ladies) coming on day trips. It's either them or the schedule.
- Push your estimates by 2 to 3 hours always. For ex. we thought we'd reach home by 10 in the night, ended up reaching at 12:30.
- It's nice to have these group trips once a century. We've covered the 21st.

:)

If you services like Gmail, Google Reader, Youtube, Google Videos, News sites etc. you can now access them through one interface at iGoogle. It's amazing how effectively they've integrated all of it. You simply need to login once and all your services are available. You don't need to go to each services' web page.

I find this highly convenient and time saving. Kudos to the people who've thought of this. There's even a mobile version of this. Unifying services and 'cloud computing' are all the rage these days.

It's been a while since I posted on this blog. It's sad that I'm forced to blog again because of insane turn of events in the past few weeks. What with the arrests of a few guys associated with this new group calling itself (or being called) the Indian Mujahideen (seriously they could've atleast come up with a better name, like the jihadi harbingers of death or summthin)

What's alarming is how decent looking guys are being implicated. Take this piece in the guardian for example. It says one 'Peerbhoy' has been arrested for being a terrorist. Before I continue with this I'd like to say that if someone is a convicted terrorist, they should be punished. There is no second opinion about that. But when I look at these events, I can't help but feel that there's more to it than meets the eye. Take the case I linked to for example.

- Guy has a well paying job. Visited the US on many occassions. Sounds like he has a career ahead of em. So Muslim guys who have good careers ahead of them can suddenly become terrorists.

- These guys belong to, and I quote "highly qualified, computer-savvy people belonging to good and educated families". So now decent Muslim families, with educated members can produce blood thirsty terrorists.

- The article says he became a radical (whatever that's supposed to mean) after visiting Mecca. So now the millions of people visiting Mecca are all now at the risk of being radicalized. Young Muslims guys, beware of travelling to Mecca.

- Also what changed him was his attendance of an Arabic class. For God's sake so many people learn Arabic. Osmania University has an entire dept that teaches the language. So now, anyone trying to learn this language is potentially a... here it comes.. radical.

If you're not on drugs, you'll notice a definite trend here. It's about taking a perfectly normal setting, which applies to millions of Muslim families and turning it in to a threat. Ooo you betta be afraid of the young Muslim guy! Don't be fooled by his good manners or decent family background or the fact that he's actually got a good career ahead of him. He's a filthy terrorist!

I ask all fair minded individuals, if you have Muslim friends (and you should, we make the best food around) don't you feel this could apply to them. I mean if you know a Muslim guy from a decent family, does it occur to you that they could possibly want to harm someone for no justifiable reason.

This is what is disturbing about this whole situation. Until now, the media was telling us that it is the unemployed and disaffected youth that took to terrorism. But now, your everyday, middle class, educated, career-oriented, young Muslim male is potentially a terrorist. The message being communicated here is a dangerous one and all thinking people should strive for the facts before they accept what they find in the mainstream media.

Michael Phelps is a phenomenon. Breaking all those records and winning all those golds at just 23 years of age. I feel ridiculous at 25.

But how has it been possible. Apparently by being a glutton. Read on:

Think about what you ate this morning.

Maybe it was a bagel, or a bowl of cereal to go along with that cup of coffee.

Now compare that to what Olympic gold medalist and swimming sensation Michael Phelps eats in the morning, and you might feel a little malnourished:

— three fried egg sandwiches with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions, and mayo
— one five-egg omelets
— a bowl of grits
— three slices of French toast with powdered sugar
— three chocolate chip pancakes
— two cups of coffee

Altogether, Phelps consumes 12,000 calories a day while in training. Compared to the 2,500-3,000 calories a day the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recommends for men depending on age and activity level, Phelps diet seems outrageous.

But it is, in fact, a completely normal diet for an Olympic athlete like Phelps, said Tanya Zuckerbrot, a nutritionist and author of “The F-Factor.”

“Look at his picture, he’s completely ripped,” Zuckerbrot told FOXNews.com. “He is clearly burning that many calories — if he wasn’t, he would look chubby.”

Zuckerbrot said Phelps probably doesn’t eat that many calories during his off-training season as his high-fat, high-carbohydrate diet would be dangerous to his health.

“It’s interesting, if he wasn’t eating that many calories, he wouldn’t be winning, because he wouldn’t have the energy,” Zuckerbrot said. “The carbs is what the body uses for energy. You have to give the body glucose to fuel it. That’s why people on the Atkins diet (an all-protein diet) can’t work-out.”

For lunch, Phelps drinks 1,000 calories worth of energy drinks, one pound of pasta with tomato sauce and two large ham and cheese sandwiches (with mayo) on white bread.

For dinner, Phelps’ meal consists of six to eight slices of pizza, another pound of pasta with tomato sauce, and 1,000 calories of energy drinks.

These meals are important, Zuckerbrot said, because the breads and pasta are made up of refined carbohydrates, which digests quickly and give him instant energy.

Zuckerbrot said she would not recommend Phelps’ diet to the average person who hopes to have a high intensity work out at the gym for an hour, but then sit at their desk all day.

“This is a diet created for an Olympic performer,” she said. “Clearly with 11 medals under his belt, it’s working.”

Life has this habit of playing funny games with you. It messes with your head and leaves you alone to sort everything out. These different states of mind are so unpredictable. It's like you're a bloody Arnold Schwarzenegger one moment, and a Stephen Hawking the next. Like I'm some nutter just waiting to be Erragadda'd.

Take today for example. I'm finding it difficult to put in words exactly how positive and upbeat I feel. Right now, I'm confident of getting through B-School, landing a good (better?) job and just plain work less and draw my fatass-manager paycheck. I'm so sure I can do it, I can actually see it. Should I be whining? Apparently not. But I have this bad feeling that I'll take a decision that will impact my life in a huge way, but I will not have the steam to carry through with it.

Case in point: My endeavor to learn a new language. For the longest time I've wanted to learn Arabic. Probably because I've lived in the Gulf most of my childhood. All excited I made some really tall promises/claims and got some people I know to arrange for a tutor. All was well in the beginning. But I've lost it completely. Sure.. I'm following the classes and all but the strong surge of confidence in me, that told me I'd crack this has abandoned me and now I'm left with this (what seems like a) huge task. I feel like kicking myself.

So like I said, this feeling of confidence doesn't really make me feel that good. I try hard to make it go away and to make myself think more realistically. But again I dread that I might be killing ambition here. What do I do? How do I organize myself and make the right move? Can someone just give me a universal decision tree that I keep with me for life. All I want to do is pull this card out with these simple do's and don'ts that I can use to make all my decisions. I don't want to use my mind anymore.

I've lost it!

Of the many things that irritate (or freak) me out in life, cockroaches are right there at the top. I hate them. Period. The sight of them. The way they walk. The way they run. Especially the way they fly. I consider my self a flygingcockroachophobic. Just the sight of them getting ready to fly can make me go ballistic. I've also noticed that they come right at you once they're airborne.

Now for the life of me I've never figured an effective way to kill one. I mean.. sure there are dozens of ways to kill a roach but I never really was satisfied.

Baygon/Hit: Leaves a bad after-smell and hazardous too
Something like chalk: You a draw a line with one of these and if a roach passes over one of these, they're supposed to be dead. Yeah.. never could figure this one out.
Chappal: One of the more effective ways of killing one, except you have to be really fast and there is very good chance it'll slip under the TV stand/washing machine/corner table.

However, I have now discovered a way which'll help you kill a cockroach without the need to run after them and without the need to use poison. However, as everything else in life, it isn't perfect. This method is only effective in the toilet. Here's how the sequence of events will play out in an ideal situation.

1. You spot cockroach.
2. Hopefully cockroach is unaware and completely at ease (you can always tell)
3. You head for the nearest water source with which you can splash the roach, like a health shower/or plain old mug
4. You throw/spray large quantities of water in its direction.
5. Cockroach falls down and can't run very fast because of wet floor. In fact they should just be hitting their creepy feet very hard but not going very far.
6. You grab your chappal and bludgeon the mean little fucker.

There, you have yourself a dead roach with very little running around and an excuse to clean the toilet.

You're welcome!

If you're a Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat fan like I am, then you're gonna love this video.

I gotta admit this video seems much better than the original game. How do they make these videos? Synchronizing characters from two different games and making it look all so real. It just beats me.

Sometimes we hurt those we love the most. We don't listen to those who have our best interest at heart. We let our egos govern our actions. We argue, we shout, we accuse, we chastise but we fail to do the one thing that is most important. That is, shut up and listen.

It's frustrating when the one before you fails to see your point of view but its also frustrating later on when you realize you werent seeing their point of view either. It's so easy to be angry and let it all out. Feel the momentary 'pleasure' of letting out your frustrations. But in most cases you end up with regret and that momentary feeling of power and authority vanishes.

Is there a remedy to this? Will we ever find a cure for anger? Isn't anger the disease killing millions around the world today? It's amazing how humanity is working hard to find a cure for cancer/AIDS but we aren't working to find a cure for anger.

Is there even a cure?

For once, I found something of meaning and substance on rediff. To put it simply, the 36million residents of California consume more fuel than the entire nation of India.

I'm flabbergasted. Is it just me or is anti-Americanism coming in to fashion or what?

Most people can divide their lives in to phases. These phases can be based on the place they lived, their education, the group of friends they hung out with etc.

What if you could choose to go back and re-live one of these phases? Which one would you choose?

Of course, you won't carry the knowledge of the present with you, because then you could become a billionaire. Not to mention the many mistakes you'd undo.

So decide... do you want to go back or do you think your present phase is your best?

Our idea of a movie marathon: Watch as many as you can in a 24hr period.

We managed to watch 2.

We spent the rest of the day, sleeping, eating, planning, and plain shit doing nothing.

We watched Saw (I) and The Pursuit of Happyness. I'd already seen those movies ages ago but watching them with someone who hasn't makes it fun.

We thought Saw (I) was ok, but TPoH was amazing. One of Will Smith's all-time best performances so far.

Also, just noticed that's four sentences I began with the word 'We.' I'm such a people's person aren't I

I've finally been able to gather the energy (and willingness) to write this post about my trip to Machlipatnam. So like I mentioned in my last post, the omens weren't that good and boy did this trip turn out to be a lesson in mismanagement.

So, I book the tickets through the railways website and there aren't any available tickets to Machlipatnam. I look at the routing chart and find a couple of stops ahead of (or so I thought) Machlipatnam. It was simple, just get off at Machlipatnam. I was willing to pay more just to get the tickets. Lo and behold! There are available tickets and I quickly proceed to book them. At this point I'd like to mention that I think the railways has the shittiest website on the planet for a service of this magnitude.

I had to search, and search again dozens of times simply to find the right train, route, fare etc. And if that's not bad enough, it gets worse. While booking my return tickets, the site times out right after they take the payment out of my bank account. How convenient!

Though I mentioned all of this in my previous post, I'm writing it again to get all the frustration out of my system. Ahhhh. That feels better. In retrospect, it was better that we didn't get the return tickets because we simply took an A/C bus on our way back, which cost less and was comfortable.

Now, on to the trip. We wake up at 5:15am to learn that out train will never, in the near or far future, ever go to Machlipatnam with us in it. So we got down at this town called Maneguru (MMA has this really funny way of pronouncing it). We go to the bus stand and find out that there is no bus from this little town to Maneguru. But yes, there is a bus to Thiruvur, wherefrom we could board another bus to Machlipatnam. Fare enough, no pun intended.

We hopped on and got to Thiruvur in about an hour. We had breakfast, roamed the town a bit, rested ourselves.. and waited for the bus to Machlipatnam. The bus arrived at 9:30am. We boarded it and off we were.

The journey wasn't eventful. We reached our destination at 1:30pm. The first (smart) thing we did was to find out when the bus to Hyderabad leaves. Turns out, there's quite a few of them with the last one (A/C bus) leaving at 11:00pm. We were starving, so we asked a couple of locals and found this decent enough place that served good non-veg food. Veg was simply inadequate at that point. No offense intended to any of your veggies out there, and if you love non-veg you know what I mean ;-)

After treating ourselves to some tasty biryani and washing it down with drinks (non alcoholic if you ask) we headed straight to the beach. Lots of autos headed that way. Guy charged us 50 rupees to take us there.

When we finally got there, we could spot the waves from a distance. The first thing we noticed about the place was that there weren't many people there, which was surprising. I mean, here's probably the closest beach to Hyderabad and no one's interested in coming here. Anyhow, we walked towards the water and we could hear the sounds of the waves as we drew close.

I, for one, think that the sound of the waves hitting the shore is one of the most soothing sounds you can hear. We got close to the water and walked a short distance. We wanted to find an isolated spot where we could keep our bags and not worry about them. Finding such a place, we marched onwards to hopelessly challenge the might of the sea. And mighty it is.

I've literally been tossed about by the waves like a little baby and the feeling is at once enjoyable and intimidating. Words cannot describe the might, power, and endlessness of the seas and oceans. Those sailors who ventured out in to the oceans, not knowing where they were headed are truly brave souls.

We played in the water for a while, but the saltiness was very uninviting. We sat in the sand for a while and then decided on getting back to the town. That's when it hit me that we might as well just take the bus back to Hyderabad today. I mean, there was no point staying another night, then coming to the same beach. We'd save some money on the room. So we booked our tickets, had dinner and some very nice and different fruit juice. Then whiled our way until our bus arrived. We left Machlipatnam at 11pm and reached Hyderabad at 5am next morning.

It was a nice trip, a small adventure as my good buddy put it. We talked, walked, and balked on a few occasions too. It's nice and I imagine that we'll be visiting the place again.

Hyderabad's been seeing some really nice weather off late. The cloud cover was so dense and low it seemed like you could touch it. I took this picture using my phone on my way back from work.

Also, today, me and good buddy MMA will be heading off to Machlipatnam. The planning (or execution) of this trip hasn't been smooth so far. We were gonna leave last weekend but had to change plans due to an emergency.

Yesterday, I sat down to book our tickets and went to the shitty railways website. I'm told I should be thankful there even is a website. Duh in the 21st century. Anyhow, I managed to book our tickets from Hyderabad to Machlipatnam. And I had to keep logging in and keep searching repeatedly to do this.

Then, while trying to book our return tickets the website acted up. And conveniently so for the stupid railways dept I might add. Because they took the money out of my bank account but never issued a ticket. A few panic filled moments and phone calls later, I was informed that the tickets never got booked and I should expect an automatic refund, which seems oxy'moronic' when it comes to the railways where everything is achieved with copious amounts of drudgery.

So we've decided we'll just take a bus to return. Here's to hoping the trip is worth it and I get the refund.

Last, I wanted to talk about the Turkey-Germany game. It was a fun match to watch with 5 goals scored in total. However, Turkey lost. Though I like a lot of things about Turkey, never really was a fan of their team until I saw their game against Croatia. Just that I always like to support the underdog. It makes the match more fun to watch. Never the less, Turkey lost, though they were the first one's to score. I would have dozed off, but the Red Bull seemed to have done its magic.

So that's that. I hope to write about my Machlipatnam trip next.

What a game it was yesterday (or today considering we stayed up till 3am). It was an awesome contest from the beginning with Russia dominating the game. Very impressive especially when it was against the Netherlands, who beat the likes of Italy and France to qualify.

I won't include a review of the game, which can be had here. However, I did want to mention that if there's something more fun than watching a good game, it's watching a good game with friends/family. In this case, it was all of my cousins.

When they arrived, I insisted that everyone pick sides to make the game more interesting. We were 6 people with 3 people supporting a team each. However, in the end, two of them conveniently levitated to the Russian side (which was us). Except for one cousin, who was distraught even at breakfast time because the Dutch lost. Everyone else had a terrific time and enjoyed a wonderful game.

Russia look set to impress. They're peaking at just the right time.

Tata Indicom Broadband recently slashed the rates for their postpaid plans. I've been using their connection for a while and its very good. Their customer service is responsive. The connection speeds are terrific.

I used to pay 600 rupees for a 128KBPs connection. Now I'm paying 1,100 for 384 KBPS. That's 4 times the speed for about 2 times the cost. Now I can enjoy sites like Youtube. If you can't stream and view Youtube videos, you're missing out!

I say scrap your old connection and get this new one from Tata. Go for it!

Went to Nagarjuna sagar last weekend. The trip was fun and lively from the get go. We went by car and FD was driving. Me, my siblings, and good mate MMA were enjoying the scenery. I must admit, it was a bit cramped in our little Alto, but the scenery and road made up for it.

I'm pleased to say that even though the roads in the city are quite shitty, (wow, that actually rhymes!) The highway was a different story. Except for a few 'Stunt master 2000' moments thanks to FD, the ride was pretty smooth.

At Nagarjuna Sagar, there was a relative of ours who insisted that we drop by before embarking on any further adventures. We were treated to a sumptuous breakfast, and we ate our fill, though we'd already eaten at Ibrahimpatnam.

Their place had a splendid view and was right by the lake. A true lakeview home, if there ever was one. We went and played in the water for a while, but just saved ourselves from the temptation of a full dip as there was more to come.

We then headed towards the waterfalls, whose name rhymes with Ethiopia. There we paid 15 bucks per person to go in, only to find out that we get a crummy view of the waterfall, when we could be experiencing the real thing for free!

We promptly exited rip-off place a.k.a known as AP tourism structure and went for a short trek to the falls. The heat wasn't helping, as we were tired and sweating by the time we got to the falls, which made the water even more tempting. We changed quickly and went slowly in to the water, slipping and hurting ourselves a few times. I think almost everyone fell once except FD who got in and got out real quick.

We played in the water for 2 and half hours.

It was fun.

We then got out, changed, headed back to our relatives place. Had a delicious lunch. Rested for a while. Then to took the long drive back to Hyderabad. I loved the road so I insisted on driving on the way back. I enjoyed every moment of it. We were back in Hyderabad by evening time. We dropped off MMA and went straight to home. Had ourselves a nice dinner and hit the sack.

A Saturday well spent. The coming week it'll be Machlipatnam. Stay tuned for my post on that one.

P.S: MMA was freaking out because he thought he'd lost his phone. We managed to find it only after coming back to Hyderabad. Talk about a tension filled return trip. And don't even ask where it managed to hide itself.

I finally got one of these beauties! I'm loving every moment of it. I gotta say this phone is WAAAY ahead of its time. Some of the features are just mind blowing. The browser is top class. I'm seriously considering buying a wireless router so I can use this thing anywhere in my house. It's simply awesome!

You've probably read a lot about the features, so I'll just talk about the pricing. Buying an unlocked piece locally would've cost me 20,000 rupees. And I found out that a piece in the US costs 399 USD add to that federal taxes and this thing costs 432 dollars (That's about 18,200 rupees) A good enough difference for you to ask someone to bring it for you.

I unlocked it myself (with some help from a friend) it was a simple one-click step. No sweat! If you're thinking of spending something in the range of 15,000 rupees for a cell phone, then I definitely recommend that you put in a little extra and get this phone. You won't regret it.

I must begin by saying I'm really bummed out that Deccan Chargers couldn't make it to the semis. I hoped in vain that Afridi would fire in at least one game but he was a lost investment.

Now with two very one-sided games in the semis, the final is upon us. I've always said that Chennai would make it to the final. People were in doubt because they forgot that half way through the tournament, Chennai was the only undefeated side. But their second half wasn't that successful.

You'd expect that Delhi and Punjab would give us a powerful performance, given they worked really hard to make it to the semis. But their class never exceeded that of the local galli team that plays in my neighborhood.

So we now have the finals, with Rajasthan who go in as the clear favorites. But Chennai is always out to surprise. Besides, he's proven beyond doubt that he's more worthy of the captaincy of the National side when compared to Yuvraj, who was thoroughly outplayed.

So how's it gonna be? Will Rajasthan just charge through, with their unstoppable momentum, or will we have another semis-style one-sided game where the Chennai Super Kings have the Rajasthan Royals for dinner?

Time will tell, but I'm sure damn looking forward to it. If only the stupid organizers had scheduled the match in the afternoon instead of the evening so I wouldn't have to stay up late on a Sunday.

Went to this new hotel the other day. So this was my dad's recommendation. We were actually thinking of going to hotel 'City Choice' but going to old city seemed a bit of a far off option.

We went to hotel Shezan, which is near Nampally Exhibition grounds. The setting was beautiful. I was surprised to see someone still getting this big a set up at Nampally.

The place was good, the food was OK, the service a tad bit slow. But the price was nice. So we had.

1 Kadai Ghosht
1 Kadai Chicken
7 Lachcha Parathas
3 Tandoori rotis
5 drinks
2 Plates of Biryani

All of this for 800 bucks. This was a dinner for 5 people in an air conditioned setting.

I must say the quantity was satisfying. There wasn't anyone there when we arrived but the place started filling up gradually. It's a nice place to try out but I don't know if I'd specifically go there unless I'm in that area shopping at Abid's maybe.

A day or two back saw my closest encounter with an iPhone. It was my uncle's phone to be precise and man oh man was I ever going crazy about it. And what's worse, it was in the hands of his 5 or 6 year old daughter; my cousin. Talk about not knowing what you have. Don't you just hate that feeling?

Anyhow, ever since seeing it up close, I've been seriously considering buying one. My first thought was an unlocked piece, but then reading a couple of reviews online made me decide otherwise. So I'm waiting for the official launch. I'm still not sure if I'm doing the right thing but hey that phone was killer!

:-)

Do you own or know anyone who owns an iPhone?

If you're a chaat aficionado, then Eat Street at necklace road is the place to be. Their chola bhatura is exquisite and is quite authentic.

I've tried chola bhatura in north India as well, where the item originated and where it is so widely eaten. And I can say the version here quite confirms to the original taste.

Why is this so special or important? Because there are many chaat outlet wannabes who claim to offer authentic chaat but miss the authentic taste by a mile.

So the next time you're visiting Eat Street, make sure you check out the chaat counter.

And no... no one's paying me to write this

We've been trying to make the most of this summer by going swimming at leaset once a week. The best place to go swimming right now is Taramati Baradari at Gandipet. The charge is 100 rupees for an hour (they're lenient with the timing).

This may seem expensive to some but this suits us perfectly. How? Well.. I only get a chance to go swimming once a week. So 4 weeks a month means I pay 400 rupees. However, other options like Gachibowli stadium charge you 500 rupees a month. So if you can go there 6 times or more, then the Gachibowli option is better.

Too confusing? Read it again.

:-)

Anyhow, its Saturday today and I'm looking forward to it again. Just make sure you call them before going because the pool was closed last week because of some festival. Also, if they have parties, the pool can get really crowded, which means its no fun to swim.

Unless swimming in crowded pools it your thing, I strongly recommend that you don't go.

Mediterranean Cuisine is having an excellent lunch buffet.

Timings are from 12:00 to 5:00pm

The range is excellent from Indian food like Biryani and all to even Turkish items like 'Pide' which seemed like a Pizza to me. But it tasted good none the less.

There's vegetarian and non-vegetarian options to choose from plus 2-3 options of dessert.

At 200 bucks per head, it's a steal. Go make the most of it before it ends, which I don't know is when.

The address is:

Not sure about the tele-numbers because I've never called them myself. So don't go complaining on me saying I never told you

A couple of weeks back I went to Bowl O' China. They had this amazing buffet going.

I didn't plan on trying out the buffet. I was just thinking I'd go for a regular meal. But the guy at the counter asked us if we wanted to try the buffet and we said yes. And I'm glad we did.

The food was amazing.

3 chicken dishes
3-4 vegetarian dishes
Soup
2 salads
Ginger fried rice
Ice cream
Soda

Let me think.. am I missing something? No, that's about it

:-)

All of this for a killer 99 rupees.... well 106 after taxes to be exact.

But I think its a steal and did I mention the food was awesome. I wonder if they have one going on today. I think I'll try it again

It's been a real while since I've posted. To be honest, I almost gave up on the idea of this blog. However, I feel I should give it another shot.

I just wanted to keep this one short and say that I'm sorry to hear that Dastar has been closed down
